Nathaniel Alden Sellers
Hi there! Welcome to "The Art of Life"; specific cordials via me, Nathan! I am passionate about helping tell the stories of fellow creatives who, like me, want to express themselves fully, all-the-while gifting communities with insight into their hidden imaginative 'mines', gracefully exposing the beautiful artistic 'gems'; ready to shine! (Don't mind the rock puns, my dad is a geologist).
His Story
Nathaniel Sellers was born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado, in the Ol' U.S. of A. Growing up, he was involved in musicals, high-school and club swimming (Co-Captain of the District 51 Men's Swim Team his Senior Year), and fell in love with music, (during the days of Limewire), dancing, singing, and feeling very comfortable in *any* bodies of water.
Fast forward to after high-school (Grand Junction High; go Tigers!) and off to Fort Collins he went. His first real adventure! After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Colorado State University (go rams!), (and working as a Aqua Fitness Instructor and Lifeguard for the City of Fort Collins and Volunteering at the ever beloved Everyday Joe's Coffee Shop <3) he kick-started a graphic design studio called Aldesign, referencing his middle (family) name: Alden. He also was a Landscape Designer at Bookcliff Gardens for three years, then eventually joined the Landscape Construction Crew there.
Life was calling outside the borders of the Centennial State to a land completely different; The Sunshine State (his a**; it rained more there than Colorado!) Florida! (que Taylor Swift and Florence, "it's one hell of a drug"). He was a Landscape Plan Reviewer for the City of Jacksonville, (Duuuuuuuuvalllll!). He continued to paint "Bob-Ross-Inspired" works, while dreaming of how to add more of that physical "pen-to-paper" type of action, into his everyday world.
While still in Florida, he joined a Landscape Architect Firm: Marquis, Latimer, & Halback, and learned critical design skills and techniques that gave him insight to, not only the Landscape Architect World, but also the ins and outs of the professional world; professional office mechanics? ML&H was branded as "We Are Storytellers" which was probably ingrained in him the most. (He just wasn't a 'Hal(er)back (Girl)').
SO! After ruminating his true life goals and figuring out what he truly wanted to do, (i.e. Art of Life) he took a break. He went Down Under to Melbourne, Australia, on a year long Work and Holiday Visa, to eventually work as a Horticulturalist (Landscape Maintenance) with a company called Inscape, (after a couple failed trials as a bartender).
Now he's back in the States, and back at his first place of work, Bookcliff Gardens, with the Landscape Crew again; using his free time to pursue his final dream and will eventually transition to becoming a 'Storyteller' of his own, full time.
